Colorado and marijuana

I received a very good question about Colorado's recent law legalizing the recreational use of marijuana.  I will eventually discuss this on the blog I started but thought I would open this up for discussion.  The student asks a number of interesting questions:

 

1. Do states have the right to legalize drugs if federal law criminalizes drugs?

 

2. Will federal courts resolve this?

 

3. Can people sue the state or a federal agency to prevent this from happening?
